Wassertrüdingen, Horticultural Show 2019

In beautiful Middle Franconia, near Würzburg, the garden show “Nature in Watertrüdingen 2019” opened its gates in spring. On the showgrounds at Klingenweiher Park, this large adventure play space was created. It is a woodland playground whose design and execution echo the colours, textures and elements of the forest.

The uprights and all load-bearing structures are made from steel, painted in various shades of green such as moss green, grass green and pale green. Robinia timber was used for the wooden components, and the ropework was kept in a natural colour.

A climbing tower with round platforms arranged at different heights symbolises tree rings. Children climb up from one “tree slice” to the next, and the way back down can be chosen depending on the desired level of challenge: via the tunnel slide, a fireman’s pole, a climbing net or a ladder. The parapet nets used are made from stainless steel.

A small “swing garden” provides swinging fun — whether a toddler swing or a bird’s-nest swing, there’s something suitable for every age.

The “wobble woodland” is a balancing and climbing course featuring elements such as a wobble bridge, overhead rings, stepping discs or simply a balance pole. At the end of the route you’ll find a group of “forest mushrooms”: low stepping platforms, some fixed and some rotating — an ideal “mushroom cluster” for younger play visitors.

Beneath the mature existing trees stands a somewhat unusual treehouse. Shaped like a barrel lying on its side, it can be reached — and exited — via two stainless-steel loop-style ladders. Alternatively, children can slide back down via a fireman’s pole. On the treehouse level, around 2.5 metres up, you can pause, relax and take in the view.

The adventure playground is rounded off with horizontal bars in various sizes, as well as seating and viewing platforms.
