Nuremberg, Quartiersplatz St. Leonhard

More neighbourhood in St. Leonhard

Neighbourhoods are central places for living together: spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds meet – with different origins, nationalities and religions. A neighbourhood square therefore has to meet many different needs.

In the St. Leonhard/Schweinau district of Nuremberg, we helped successfully create such a place for neighbourly community. The result is a playground with high play value, meeting the needs of all generations and encouraging intergenerational play.

The extensive play combination made of natural robinia not only offers children climbing and sliding opportunities; it also invites visitors young and old to play together using the sand lift. Beneath the slide there is a counter that can be used for role play and hide-and-seek.

A net bridge leads from the slide platforms down to a varied balance area. Starting from a small triangular platform, four routes test balance: a balance rope, stepping discs, a balance strap and a balance tube. The set is completed by balance beams, running-disc posts, stilts with foot blocks and a slalom route. A rest net is also integrated.

Opposite the slide is a double swing equipped with a standard swing seat and our “Big and Small” swing seat, so three people can swing at the same time. Close to the play equipment there is also a timber deck for parents and grandparents to sit and watch.
