‘Fischi’—the nickname locals use for Fischers Park in Hamburg-Ottensen—has undergone extensive refurbishment in recent years. That included a complete rethink of the play areas.
Working alongside the office Schelhorn (now LSQuadrat) from Frankfurt, we created new play opportunities for all age groups. The result is a long, flowing climbing landscape with a wide variety of challenges that particularly suit older children: elevated balance routes, a ‘press’ bridge and hanging sections. The integrated solid boulders are another highlight—both visually and to the touch.
In the toddler area, sloping planes and ‘hide-through’ gates invite children to explore their bodies and play together. And the world of swings can be seen from afar: the bold red, angular swing frames make a striking statement.
