Gelsenkirchen, Schlosserstraße

Climbing, baking sand cakes and swinging at the new Schlosserstraße playground

A new, varied play installation is waiting for the children of Gelsenkirchen. The central feature is a wooden play tower in red and natural wood tones. A 3.50‑metre rubber-band bridge – amusingly wobbly underfoot – leads up to the tower, and there are also solid stairs. Either way, the reward is a long stainless-steel slide back down to the ground.

In the sand area there is also a sand play table with both a higher and a lower platform; some of the tables can be approached by children’s wheelchairs. Freshly “baked” sand cakes can be sold next door at the mini kiosk – a small wooden hut. The sand play area is framed by an easily accessible play railing where younger children can let off steam.
