A water-castle play fort made for climbers in Cologne

A new play installation for climbing and letting off steam has been completed in a residential area of Cologne. The structure was installed directly above an underground car park. The space is designed like an adventurous water castle, offering a wide range of play options across several timber towers.

The square towers are equipped with a rope ladder, a rung ladder and a pole ladder. There is also a climbing wall with holds and add-on platforms featuring a sliding pole.

Two of the towers are connected by a large tubular net, where you have to conquer the “abyss” seemingly suspended in mid-air! In addition, the towers are fitted with traversing ropes, balance ropes, plank walkways and many other climbing elements.

The water castle is an all-round climbing challenge: the idea is to scale the whole structure without “falling into the water”. A “lake” beneath the construction is suggested by a blue surface.
