The Waldbadviertel district in Cologne can look forward to a new, extensive play installation. Between residential buildings, we created an engaging play space that leaves no room for boredom. It begins with a balancing course, where children can walk to their heart’s content over thick ropes or wide nets. At the centre stands a treehouse on timber piles, which can be climbed – and a slide takes you back down again.
A large bird’s-nest swing offers space for shared swinging fun. When it’s time for a rest, a generous hammock provides a perfect spot to relax.
There are also two sand boards: children can use buckets and a chain hoist to lift sand onto the board, then sieve it or “bake” sand cakes. Scattered around the site are individual timber barrels for hiding and clambering on.
