In the heart of Cologne city centre lies a GAG housing development that also includes a nursery. The brief was to create opportunities for movement, imaginative role-play and sand play that would challenge pre-schoolers while still catering for younger children.
The Hallbach climbing tower, the little pirate ship and the play hut are positioned within the nursery area and offer plenty of appeal for the youngest ones.
Outside the nursery grounds, a large climbing structure and the ‘Josef’ sand construction site with its movable sand crane provide lots of play options for older nursery explorers and local children alike.
The colour scheme across all the equipment is a great reminder that steel doesn’t have to feel cold or bleak on a playground—and that primary colours aren’t the only choice. Our world has become more diverse, and it’s good to see that reflected in play spaces too.
