The housing estates in the north of Cologne’s Kalk district have been progressively replaced with modern new builds by GAG Immobilien AG. Last year, the buildings around Albermannstraße were also modernised, and we equipped the area with new play opportunities.
The play offer includes a customised version of the Kantholz climbing landscape, adapted to the client’s wishes. Instead of oak, glulam larch beams were used. The larch – with its pronounced contrast between heartwood and sapwood – combined with the white-painted support posts, creates a striking, modern look.
The climbing landscape stands out not only for its minimalist colour scheme but also for its high play value. Balance beams combined with a balance tube, a swing and two climbing nets make height and speed tangible – and, through play, help children experience the importance of balance and coordination.
